Tulsidas
Tulsidas Restores Jaitpal To Life
There was a merchant named Jaitpal who suddenly passed away. His devoted wife, filled with love for her husband and with the Lord in her heart, decided to join him in death by self-immolation. They went to a cleared forest by the bank of the Ganges and built a large funeral pyre. The wife prepared herself for this solemn occasion as if she already had a husband and walked cheerfully towards it. It was during this walk that she passed by Tulsidas' cave and, coming alone, she approached him to pay her respects.
Tulsidas, who was immersed in chanting the names of God, noticed her and blessed her, saying, "May you have eight sons." The pious woman, having lost her husband to eternal sleep and embarking on a journey to accompany him by forsaking all that was dear to her, expressed her doubts about Tulsidas' blessing. She said, "You have bestowed upon me the blessing of becoming the fortunate mother of eight sons and having a husband, but I am skeptical whether it will come true."
Tulsidas replied, "I spoke without knowing your circumstances, but Lord Ram will make it come true." Upon hearing his reassuring words, the woman humbly bowed before him. As she approached her husband's corpse, she was astounded to find him sitting up, alive. This miraculous sight filled everyone with immense joy, and they shouted in triumph. Taking her husband's hand, she led him back to the hermitage, where they once again paid their heartfelt respects to Tulsidas.
The news of this extraordinary event quickly spread throughout the city of Benares, and its inhabitants began singing the praises of Tulsidas. They exclaimed, "Blessed is this Vaishnava! He is a true savior for us, ordinary and foolish individuals. He made the stone bull eat food, and through his blessed words, he brought a lifeless body back to life." The news eventually reached the king, who was astonished by the extraordinary powers displayed by Tulsidas.
